Basil (Ocimum basilicum), a delicate and aromatic herb with small white flowers grown and extracted in India where soil and climate give a unique herbal image  and a sweet tone. Delicate green leaves that highlight their small purple / white flowers. The herb  used by aromatherapists for headaches. The oil is traditionally used in perfumes and in the treatment of various skin, body and mental conditions. It is often used to help with poor concentration and to clear the mind. It may have a tendency to dominate the fragrance image together with other essential oils and should therefore be added gradually until the desired strength / fragrance is achieved.

Basil has a similar effect to rosemary in promoting strong, healthy hair. If you drip a few drops into your shampoo, it can help increase shine and strength and promote a healthy scalp.

Tips and uses of basil oil:

Dilution

Use a maximum of 20 drops or just 1 ml of essential oil to 100 ml of base oil. As a rule, you can use up to 1% dilution for use on the body or in the bathroom. On the other hand, it is recommended that you try carefully to regulate the scent image.

Massage

Use in a massage mixture with base oil such as fractionated coconut oil or jojoba oil to enjoy the refreshing and stimulating powers of basil.

In diffuser or oil lamp:

For increased energy you can use balilikum in a diffuser or  oil lamp. It goes well with other oils, especially other herbal oils. Be aware that  you only need a few drops. It can quickly override other oils, so try one drop at a time.

Skin care:

Drizzle a drop or two of basil in your favorite base oil and use as a facial cleanser. Apply on a cotton wool pad and swipe over your skin to remove makeup and dirt. It is especially suitable for oily, impure skin. We especially recommend fractionated coconut oil for a light face oil.
Basil has also been widely used against swelling, bruising, warts and blood clots as the oil is a general skin stimulant.

Hair care:

Basil has similar hair care benefits as rosemary. It promotes strong, healthy hair. If you drip a few drops into your shampoo, it can help increase shine and strength and promote a healthy scalp.

Insecticide:

The scent of basil scares away insects, and the essential oil  can  is used undiluted on mosquito and wasp stings, which has an antipruritic and anti-inflammatory effect.

As with any new product, always perform a patch test before first use.

General precautions when using essential oils:

Remember that all essential oils should be used with great care and respect. These drops are very potent and should be kept out of the reach of children. Pregnant women should avoid all essential oils and people with epilepsy, asthma and high blood pressure should check specifically regarding the individual oils.

Never use essential oils internally. There are some exceptions for some of the oils as a flavoring, but then only in microscopic amounts mixed with liquid or the like. In fact, drinking only a few milliliters of essential oil can, in the worst case, be fatal.

Always read a little before you start experimenting with essential oils and remember to check that they are labeled 100% pure essential oils.
