100% pure essential oil of Frankincense Serrata. Indian

Organically certified by the Soil Association. Certified vegan by The Vegan Society. Certified cruelty free.

Frankincense Serrata Boswellia grows wild on dry hills and slopes in the northern and central areas of India. Boswellia is a 6-10 meter high tree with a thick trunk and smooth bark, and a wide flat crown. It has lobed and small leaves with a serrated edge that gives it the name Serrata  which means sawtooth. It has white / greenish-white, fragrant flowers that sit in clusters. It is the resin from the bark that is used.

Note that Frankincense Serrata and Carterii are closely related and share most of the characteristics. Both  smells wonderfully good and has very many useful properties.
While Boswelia carterii was one of the gifts that the three wise men handed over to the baby Jesus, Boswellia (B. serrata) stands for another gift, namely an important and highly valued Ayurvedic remedy that has been used for a long time to treat rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. This agent comes from an extract from the resin of B. serrata and is used in India not only for inflammatory conditions but also for lung diseases, diarrhea, diseases of the reproductive organs, wounds, and a variety of other ailments. For people with arthritis, boswellia can provide symptom relief without serious side effects.

General precautions when using essential oils:

Remember that all essential oils should be used with great care and respect. These drops are very potent and should be kept out of the reach of children. Pregnant women should avoid all essential oils and people with epilepsy, asthma and high blood pressure should check specifically regarding the individual oils.

Never use essential oils internally. There are some exceptions for some of the oils as a flavoring, but then only in microscopic amounts mixed with liquid or the like. In fact, drinking only a few milliliters of essential oil can, in the worst case, be fatal.

Always read a little before you start experimenting with essential oils and remember to check that they are labeled 100% pure essential oils.
